News & Events
The Ursuline Education Community was launched in all eight schools in England in September 2019.
The core of the UEC is the Ursuline Student Profile and all schools have worked on the first three virtues “United in Harmony”, “Grateful & Generous” and “Listening & Attentive” (please see the Student Profile Overview for the virtues timeline).
Responses to the launch were very positive, as indeed was the level of interest from the Ursuline Sisters gathered in Rome for their Chapter in Sept-Oct 2019. It is evident that the Ursuline Student Profile has had a global impact!
Autumn Term 2021 Update
It is hard to believe that it is 19 months since our conference, pictured in the photos and represented in the resources below.
In fact, it particularly instructive and illuminating to read Fr Sean’s essay on Covid 19 (listed second below) in the light of everything we have since experienced, not least in Pope Francis’ observation that:
“The pandemic has laid bare the social inequalities that afflict our people.”
In his call to all the faithful to participate in synodal journey, from October 2021-2023. the Pope points out that it “takes place in a period of global pandemic. Some parts of theworld appear to be emerging from it, while other parts of the world are still suffering its full effects. The pandemic has exacerbated already existing inequalities and inequities in the world. ‘At the same time, this global crisis has revived our sense that we are all in the sameboat, and that “one person’s problems are the problems of all”’(Synodal Vademecum 1.1)
A ‘synodal pathway’: synodal means ‘journeying together’. The Pope is inviting the entire Church to reflect on a theme that is decisive for its life and mission.
Schools have been invited to be involved in the synodal process and we as the UEC plan respond to that invitation. More details to follow.
